Workshop: All We Need is (to) Love

Love is a universal experience and one of the greatest mysteries of human existence. Philosophers, scientists, artists and mystics have sought to capture its essence but it defies precise definition, existing somewhere between biology and poetry, between logic and longing. Love is hugely important and yet we never learn much about it and how we can cultivate our own capacity to love.

This workshop will explore the many facets and dimensions of love, drawing on insights from neuroscience, psychology, philosophy and the wisdom of myths and symbols.

We will explore why loving relationships are crucial for brain development in early childhood and our emotional and physical well-being throughout life. The workshop will also expand our understanding of love as both a skill and an active choice, based on Erich Fromm's book 'The Art of Loving'. Additionally, we will explore mythology and spiritual traditions to deepen our perspective. The main objective of this workshop is to provide insights and tools so that we can develop more of our capacity to love.

Sabine Leitner is a qualified counsellor and coach with MAs in Education and Philosophy.

Location: 18 Compton Terrace N1 2UN, next door to Union Chapel.
